I hope you're as excited as I am about 2016-2017!
If you're new, welcome aboard, and if you're back for another round, welcome back!
I'm super excited about this year, because I've got a lot of great activities planned out for this year. Be ready to work! You're going to have a lot to do, but it's not going to feel like work (at least, if you're doing it right, it shouldn't). We're going to be taking pictures for the yearbook, covering events both at Dorman and in the district, and exploring all sorts of photographic techniques, concepts, and ideas.
I've been working hard this summer to come up with a new and exciting curriculum, and I think that you new students will love it and that you returning veterans will appreciate the changes.
One of the big changes this year is that I'm shifting the critiques away from a lot of me critiquing your photos and more towards you critiquing each others' photos. Another big change is that I've shifted the website and photo essay assignments from the end of the semester to the beginning, and instead of them being one or two weeks long, now they're semester-long. I'll cover this in-depth in class, but basically you're going to be working to build and polish some long-term projects over the course of the semester, instead of working on stuff for a week or two and then forgetting it. The other major change is that I decided to shift the introduction of flash from Level 1 to Level 2. Level one will focus solely on learning the basics of exposure, composition, and working with available light, while levels 2 and 3 will work with adding their own light to their images.
The following forms must be signed by your parents (the last form does not apply to Digital Photo 1 students).
