Founded in 2014, the goal of the Dorman High Photography program (Digital Art & Design) is to train students in the fundamentals of photography and equip them with the skills needed to pursue photography in college and beyond.
The program covers a broad range of topics, and begins by focusing on the basics of photography, from exposure to composition in DAD I and culminates with students in DAD IV creating a cohesive body of work that demonstrates both their technical skill and their artistic vision.
The program instructor is Austin Baker, a graduate of Wofford College, whose photographic background includes photojournalism for a newspaper in Alaska, product photography for a high-end antiques auction house, event photography for the City of Rock Hill, SC, editorial and sports photography for Wofford College, a book published through the Watson Brown Foundation, and many weddings and portrait sessions in Upstate South Carolina.
